Making coffee at home is also at the top of my list. The Nespresso Vertuo machine was one of my favorite items I received for Christmas last year!

Step-by-Step Instructions for the Brewing Process
- Begin by ensuring that the water tank is full of filtered water. I use my IceJoy Water Filter to have the best-tasting water to brew coffee.
- Select the capsule you wish to use. Gently tap the tab below the Nespresso machine logo, and the machine will open.
- Insert the capsule with the dome side down and foil side up. Gently close the lid.
- Place your coffee cup or iced coffee glass under the dispenser, either on the drip tray or by removing the drip tray if the cup is too tall.
- Press the power button one time and wait for your coffee to brew.

How To Froth Milk for the Nespresso
My favorite way to froth milk for the Nespresso is by using the Nespresso Aeroccino. You can simply heat milk or froth it.
You can also cold foam milk, which is perfect for iced coffees. You can also froth milk using a hand frother.
- Place the Aeroccino on the plugged-in base.
- Pour the milk into the container. Note the markings inside denoting the max fill for frothing milk and the max line for heating milk.
- Press the button once for hot frothing or heating. The button will turn red. Press and hold the button to cold froth. Cold frothing is indicated by a blue button.
- Once completed, pour the frothed milk into your beverage.
What is the Best Milk for Frothing Nespresso?
Dairy milk will always froth best. The more fat the milk has, the more frothy and foamy it will be.
Oat milk is the best non-dairy milk for frothing. You can use almond milk or coconut milk, however, it generally does not froth much.
How to Clean the Nespresso Vertuo Machine
I clean my Nespresso weekly. I descale it as often as the warning comes up.
Weekly Nespresso Cleaning
Weekly, I will run a rinsing process cleaning cycle through the machine.
- Remove the drip tray and place a large glass container (at least a four-cup capacity) under the dispenser. Ensure that the water chamber is full.
- Tap the tab under the Nespresso logo upward to allow the used capsule to fall into the used capsule container.
- Press the power button three times until it blinks orange. It will then begin a cycle of cleaning the inside.
- While the cleaning cycle is happening, empty the used capsule container into the provided recycling bag and wipe down the machine. I also hand-wash the drip tray.
Descaling the Nespresso Vertuo as Needed
The Nespresso Vertuo will indicate when it needs to be descaled. You can purchase a descaling kit on Amazon or through the Nespresso website.
You will know to descale the machine when the light on the power button begins to blink alternating green and red.
Generally, descaling should occur every three months or for each 300 capsules.
Nespresso FAQs
Although it is not recommended according to the manufacturer, some people do use the capsules twice. I generally do not.
No. You must use Vertuo capsules in the Vertuo machine.
Unfortunately, Nespresso does not make tea.

Iced Brown Sugar Shaken Espresso with Bianco Doppio

- 1 capsule Bianco doppio double espresso
- 1 teaspoon Truvia brown sugar blend sweetener
- 1-2 pumps Torani sugar-free vanilla syrup
- ½ cup fat-free milk or almond milk
- ice

- Add 1 teaspoon Truvia brown sugar sweetener and 1-2 pumps Torani sugar-free vanilla syrup to a glass.1 teaspoon Truvia brown sugar blend sweetener, 1-2 pumps Torani sugar-free vanilla syrup
- Insert the capsule and brew the coffee.1 capsule Bianco doppio double espresso
- While the coffee is brewing, use the Nespresso Aeroccino to cold froth the almond milk.½ cup fat-free milk or almond milk
- Add ice to the brewed coffee and pour in the almond milk. Cover with a lid and shake.ice
